DIY Die Cut Holder

Feeling bit more pleased with myself after my disappointment with Poppy stamp and dies.

I needed a storage for my die’s but really did not want to spend mega money so I had a brain wave …yes scary thought I know but I had an old CD Storage wallet gathering dust and that is what gave me the idea.

I bought a roll of magnetic tape from Poundland and made some basic background square card templates to slot inside and Voila !!!

Poppy Disappointment

As it is my mum’s birthday soon and her favourite flower is Poppies… I was pleased to find a stamp set & die set for a good price.

Well today I had a rare day off and thought I would give them a go… how disappointed I am with this set. Firstly the stamps are not individual stamps, nor would then attach to a stamp block or my WRMK…. so I had to work blind with them.

First attempt was stamp image and place paper on top then use die cut and second attempt was to use distress ink on to paper, place die on top and then stamp outline in black and place paper on top….must be an easier way to use these stamps surely ? Of course there is … means I have to cut them out and add foam or stix 2 on top *sighs*

I honestly thought given they are Sheena Douglass I would be impressed but alas I am not.

Get Well

Whilst waiting for my new goodies to arrive, apparently one wont be here till next week – *sighs* ( don’t you hate waiting ? ), a little girl I know is very poorly with chickenpox, I decided to make her a card.To which she loved.

Now I know they are not lined up 100% and one may be slightly off centred, but I am pleased with how they look.

Another good thing that happened today, I popped to The Range to get some piant for the Christmas Eve Box No2 and came away with 3 more Christmas dies ! Rude not to when they were price £1.99 – £2.50, so will be giving them a whirl this weekend 🙂

Baby Girl Part 2

Well here it is .. my completed Baby Girl card.

My cardstock finally arrived from C&C so could finally use my top score board. Oh my days how easy is that gadget ? !

The backing paper was printed off via Tattered Lace website, the letter blocks was created by using Distress Ink – Spun Sugar & Mulled Lavender.

Word cloud was used with CB Stamps from several sets

Took me quite a while to make but I have to say I am very happy with this.

Sweet Santa Christmas

I have to admit after yesterday’s attempt with my Sweet Christmas card I decided today was time to get back to tag making, as soon be wrapping up pressies – yes I know its only October but it will soon be here !

I made this one yesterday….

Although I was happy with this, I was not 100% so me being me decided time for a change, so I re did it to this :-

Now I happier except upon looking at this now the stamping is not 100% accurate but hey ho I really cannot do anything about it now. One thing that did annoy me with this tag was the words LET IT SNOW  as instead of humming or singing the carol version Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow  I actually had the dreaded song from Frozen and I bet you are now singing that damn song ! .

So as things were going along really well I decided to keep on, as was on a roll after all.So to compliment my Sweet Christmas Card I went for it and made this …

Happy ? Well I was and figured I would make a couple more … .BIG mistake as the last two I am again not happy and should of stopped when the going was good. However I was impressed with the CBS Background stamp I used as came out so clear and crisp, unless that was to do with my stamping mat ?? Who knows

tree-2-blog

That looked much better than my first attempt of Oh Christmas Tree….

Looks very plain now I feel, maybe need different tree, bigger tree, maybe a different background ??? I have no idea to be honest. All crafted out now so am going to enjoy the rest of weekend, whats left of it.

Have a good week everyone and as always… any thoughts, compliments, criticisms, etc always welcomed 🙂

Testing Rubber Trick

So like a few other or maybe alot of people, i have had the dreaded result of when stamping the image is not being solid.

Thanks to Paperpuff (check her blog out its fab), she mentioned the rubber / eraser trick.

I rubbed firmly, stamped, wiped repeated process quite a few times then on last attempt just wiped stamp and left to dry and re inked.

I decided to give it a go and as you can see after a few attempts the image is getting better. Will see if it improves more when my stamping mat arrives, fingers crossed

Have no idea what the bear is doing there  probably decided to have a nosey or say hello lol

Crafting Mental Block

So you decide to make a card and hit a mental block (to which I blame my age) or the image you have in your head never turns out like the  finished product and you feel deflated.

I have wasted so many cards as went belly up (to be polite) so now I have learnt, took me a while I know, to grab plain paper and whack up a design and if it looks half decent then I can copy it to card

Anyway  what do you all do ? Do you Google your stamp set for ideas or take a look on Pinterest and grab ideas there ? Look for inspiration on blogs you follow ?

So many great boards to follow on Pinterest ( CBS ) is my favourite one as have ideas for every stamp set plus helps as I have a lot of their stamp sets

But is looking for ideas a great way as not sure about you but I come across cards that I do not have stamps for and I want and then my bank balance takes a hit !

I must be more positive and think NO I do NOT need the set but easier said than done I guess….
