Well today I finally took the plunge and had a go at making Shaker Cards. Now I will admit they are not high standard by any means but I am pleased I actually did it !
As I did not have any acetate sheets or gems, I improvised. I laminated a sheet and used table confetti and pretty pleased with the results.
There are so many tutorials and video’s to look at and watch, I found myself getting very confused with it all. Best one’s I have to say are :- HERE and THIS ONE
I will admit when I got all my required craft stash sorted I sat there for 10 minutes with a blank mind as totally forgot what the video’s did so made it up as I went along and then realised I had remembered !
Here are my first 3 attempts… I know they need colour and put onto backing card but this was all trial and error to see if theory would work 🙂
Am sorry for not listing supplies this is purely because I forgot to write them down
So today I decided to finally play around with my new GC Machine.
I have seen various tutorials on YouTube for Embossing Folders and Inks i.e Here and This one, Looks pretty easy right ? ! Wrong …was nothing but a major failure. I followed what they said and 2 hours later I admitted defeat with this.
I had tried with Distress Inks and Memento Dew Drops, I inked raised side and not so raised side…Failure each time. I noticed in one of the videos she just used A plate & Raspberry plate do we not need Tan Embossing mat also ????
So many videos using this technique some with tan embossing mat others not… all very confusing…
So I am asking for a BIG HELP here…. for anyone who has a Grand Calibur and has had successful results with embossing folders and inking, please could you let me know exactly what you did please ? Tanning mat or not ?? What technique worked best ….
Please excuse the awful colours I just grabbed first 2 colours at hand, plus I only have 2 embossing folders at moment ( rest are on way )
