I have an upcoming christening and was asked to make cupcake bouquets and 2 Tier Cupcakes. That’s not a problem for me ( not blowing own trumpet by any means ) but then I opened my mouth and said ” how about some Macarons ? ” ! STUPID of me as never made these before so why did I say this ? !
Anyway after googling numerous recipes – why are 2 recipes never the same ???
I had a go mid week which was a complete failure and not to be beaten thought have another go after viewing a recipe and tutorial on YouTube.
And Ta-dah ! I am so pleased with these for my 2nd attempt. Only thing is add more colouring and not to use a silicone Macaron sheet, but that’s just me as I found the macarons stuck so will stick to grease proof paper in future.
I used double cream purely for quickness as these were only a trial run but will add vanilla buttercream in future.
I apologise for lac of posts recently, March is a very hectic month for me. As well as Birthdays and Mother’s Day I have been busy with work and training.
So thats all out the way I can now get back to hobbies … YAY !!
So if you read my last post you would of seen i was challenged to make a Cupcake Bouquet. I gave it a go and I am impressed with how it turned out. I will be honest it is not as easy as the video makes out but then again nothing ever is, is it ?
I know I have room for improvement but I am sure my mum will enjoy these.
I have been challenged to make this Cupcake Bouquet
It looks easy, well making the cupcakes is for me BUT however whether I can get the cakes on stay on the polystyrene ball is another matter !
And just to top it off my God Daughter kindly said ” If this comes out fine you will be making lots for christening ” ! Funny how I did not laugh at her comment lol.
Anyway I think this makes a wonderful … wonderful ?! since when do I use that word ! But yes it makes a wonderful Birthday, Mother’s Day, Christening etc floral / cake display and present.
If mine is successful I will post a photo as making one for Mother’s Day
Go on give it a go !
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Mine was quiet as got the dreaded bug that has been going around and was pretty much laid up for 3 days, but cannot grumble as many others are battling more serious things than a cold – Bless them.
Now the festive season is over I can now get back to my love of crafting and baking. I must have been on the good list as got so many lovely crafting stuff and cannot wait to try them out on my new big Grand Calibur, so much so that I may have a slight wait as just treated myself to some new embossing folders and die cuts.
Problem is they are coming all way over from China ( alot cheaper than UK ) but will be so worth the wait and already looking forward to a weekend of doing nothing except using my wonderful stuff. But happier news Hobbycraft has a sale and just got some Magnetic Die Storage Box with Inserts
I have not made any New Years Resolutions just merely to try and improve with my crafting and hopefully make some wonderful things.
Also looking forward to a new arrival in family this month as my God Daughter is expecting her 2nd baby.
Sorry this is not much of a post but wishing you all A Happy New Year
A slightly different post to the crafting or baking posts that I normally do …
My gorgeous godson is now at the age where he can really get stuck in with crafts and enjoy them.
So yesterday we had great fun making Halloween bats, pumpkins and marshmallows pops.
All so easy to do and did not cost a fortune but main thing was we had FUN and created happy memories.
The marshmallow pops was very simple ( and much easier than the dreaded cake pops ), I found this via a blog so I will not take credit for this activity, and so easy to do. :- simply cut small hole in marshmallow, insert stick, put in freezer for 5 minutes to help set, melt chocolate then dip in the marshmallow and add sprinkles.
The bat and pumpkin craft was simply draw outline and let my godson loose with glue ( pritt stick ) and tissue paper. The finished result is now proudly on mum & dads fridge.
Happy Halloween Everyone
So it is my Birthday …. and how did i spend it ?
Well i was asked to make 50 yes 50 Cake Pops – the bane of my life for a christening. I swear this is the last time i make these things. Yes they may look cute and all that but they are so time consuming to make and can make me mad when they fall off the stick when dipping into candy melts. NO MORE !!
25 were Vanilla and 25 Red Velvet
But to make up for this hard work look at the goodies i got for my birthday !
Now i know some may say or think that the Die Cutter is small but honestly for a newbie like me this is perfect, but i have decided to splash out maybe next year if all goes well on a slightly bigger die cutter.
I absolutely love making these in fact I get asked asked so many times to make these more than regular size cupcakes.
So easy to make and have made these for Christenings & Charity Events.
I followed the recipe ingredients as if i am making regular size cupcakes, then used mini baking cases or mini muffin cases and Wilton 24 Cup Mini Muffin Tray
These one’s I made for a local hair salon charity event. ( Raising awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support )
More of what i have made can be found via my Facebook Page
