I had so much fun making these christmas cards. Soon as I worked out how to colour background I could not stop making these.
Am so in love with the Gnomes which came free with a magazine
Inks used :- Distress Oxides Cracked Pistachio, Lucky Clover, Candied Apple Broken China & Spiced Marmalade.
Sentiments : CBS Stitched Mittens
Firstly many apologies to any of my followers for lack of posts recently. September was a very hectic month for me with work, god kids etc so I literally needed a break from anything and just relax and do nothing for couple of weekends.
Anyway… Distress Inks blending …am I the only one that get’s really stressed out with this ? I mean, I have watched countless videos ( all seem effortless ) and followed various tutorials and yet I still struggle.
I am wondering if I am apply pressure to hard , to soft, wrong paper / card. I tried normal card, neenah card and watercolour card …. endless thoughts about this run through my head.
So after watching everyone highly recommend the new Distress Oxides, off I went again watching video tutorials which only made me weep inside wishing I could be that creative and how great the ladies were doing them.
Along came my birthday and I was so lucky to receive both sets of Oxides and I have to say I made my swatches today ( as blending foam pad is unable to sit nestled under pad unlike mini distress ink pads ) and the colours are great and yes it was flawless to use. Maybe these are for me and would make my blending much easier….. time will tell as will be using / testing these next weekend.
I would however recommend the 2 videos by Jennifer McGuire as she talks and explains everything easy and I will attempt some of her examples and fingers crossed be able to post very soon.
Video 1 and Video 2
Would love to hear your tips for ink blending please
Before my upcoming hectic but happy weekend is upon me, I decided to finally have a test run with the edge dies I got from slow boat from China.
These cut like a dream and cannot wait to put them to good use when I need to make a card for a special event. Hardly have to use a pokey tool as the little pieces fall right out. BUT the one edge die on top right hand photo, now that was another matter. I did struggle to begin with with this but as alot of other crafters have had same problem I feel relieved I am not doing anything wrong. Phew !
Aren’t they gorgeous ?
Well my happy mail from China is slowly all arriving, I say all arriving that is kind of incorrect as have quite a few more to come !
Had to have a play around with the new dies and I am very impressed. Also a while back I made my God daughters Christening Card, but when all the lovely dies arrived I knew I was not 100% happy with it so I re did it and I am alot happier.
Here are a few cards I made… Hope you like them
Following my recent post on Digi Stamps I decided to give it a go. I have to admit although I am not brilliant at cutting, I am pleased with this draft result.
Now for the next few weekends I will attempt to have a go with other digi stamps providing I can find time as been asked to make cupcakes, baby shower tags …. Where is my craft time ?!
Supplies :- Coffee / Latte Cup via google, Coffee Beans via google
Paper is from Granny Enchanted ( go and check put the free lovely papers )
Inks :- Memento Dew Drop – Desert Sand, Rich Cocoa & Toffee Crunch
Stamp was given to me
Today I decided to have a go at creating backgrounds using Distress Inks… Still a failure with this but will keep on trying. It could be me being too heavy handed or simply using wrong card ??
Anyway by pure fluke I made this Rainbow card. I say “card”, just that I have decided not to waste cards but to have a go at making bases for card so if i wish to give a card out all I have to do is pop it on.
Supplies :- Distress Inks : Fired Brick, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Cracked Pistachio, Shaded Lilac & Wilted Violet.
Die & Stamps : Clearly Besotted April Showers
Just a quick update on my previous post Fairy Christening , I printed off a sentiment and then cut into long banner die. I then a dabbed some ink over to give it some colour and voila one finished card.
Have to say I am quite pleased with this now
